Andrew Horun recently graduated from Phillipsburg High School, where he competed on the school’s wrestling team and excelled in the classroom. An involved member of his community, Andrew Horun has also served as a youth wrestling coach and worked in support of organizations such as The Arc of Warren County.
As part of its efforts to enrich the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Arc of Warren County provides residential services that develop social skills and help foster self-sufficiency. The organization launched its first group home in 1982 and now provides community housing for more than 80 adult men and women living with various disabilities.
In addition to its group homes, each of which house two to seven individuals and provide 24-hour support, The Arc oversees supervised apartments to provide a more independent living situation for those who are ready for it. Two or three people share each apartment and live independently under the supervision and guidance of The Arc staff.
The Arc also offers challenge grants that provide financial aid and other support services to help individuals living on their own or with family maintain their independence. For more information about any of The Arc’s community-based residential programs, visit www.arcwarren.org.
